Why Even High Performers Start to Decline in Their 30s - And How to Stay Ahead of It.

Many professionals in their 40s and 50s, especially ones that are health conscious, will tell you that they feel pretty great.

They still train. They still travel. They still show up with plenty of energy for work and family gatherings.

But under the surface, something has made a shift.

They're no longer sleeping quite as well or deeply as they once did. They can't recover like they did in their teens, 20s and even thirties. Pushing through day-to-day activities is still easier than lots of their peers, but something doesn't feel quite as effortless as it used to.

I'm here to tell you, the decline doesn't start when you feel it. It starts when you're ignoring it and still going strong.

A Silent Slide That Begins in Your 30s

The reality is this: our bodies start to change in subtle, but powerful ways when we are in our mid 30s.

  • Muscle mass will start decreasing 3-5% per decade without being focused on resistance training and other forms of exercise.

  • Sex hormones, growth hormone, and mitochondrial and metabolic function starts their decline

  • Collagen production slows down causing your skin and joints to get saggy and creaky. Your recovery will not be as it once was in your youthful prime.

  • Inflammation begins to simmer below the surface, if it hasn't already thanks to the average American's lifestyle.

You do not notice these changes at first as you're still coasting on the momentum of your 20s and early 30s. You still feel energized and free.

But the decline HAS already started.

By the time you've entered your 40s and 50s, it cannot just be about feeling youthful anymore - it is about staying ahead of the slow biological erosion that effects so many of your peers, taking them out of the game earlier than necessary.

You Are Not Like Most People

You are a high performer. Maybe you own a business. Maybe you're an executive, a working parent or an athlete who still trains with high intensity.

You've seen what the result of neglecting your body and health is. Your old gym or running buddies used to dominate work outs alongside you but now they rarely do. Or skip exercise all together. Colleagues who once thrived now need a lunch time nap to make it through the day. Your family members who dismissed warning signs from their bodies live with chronic conditions, or even worse, have been lost to possibly avoidable disease.

What "Staying Ahead" Actually Looks Like

Pursuing your youthful self is about chasing quick hacks. It is all about strategy.

The most men and women with the most vitality in their 40s and 50s are doing 3 things consistently:

  • They're optimizing their recovery, not just their workouts.

    • They use tools like PEMF, compression therapy, red light therapy, medical grade cold laser. These ARE NOT luxuries. They ARE your edge. They increase mitochondrial function, flush inflammation, oxygenate the body, accelerate healing and reduce downtime.

  • They support their nervous system and alignment.

    • A performance-focused, advanced chiropractic plan is not about fixing pain, contrary to popular belief. It is about restoring proper nervous system function to your Central Nervous System, maximizing your brain-body connection and giving your body an environment that it can self-regulate its own healing mechanisms in an optimal fashion.

  • They get coaching, accountability and a long-term plan.

    • High performers have coaches for business and fitness. Why not invest this kind of time and resource into your health? When you're busy, you need someone who will filter the noise, keep you on the correct path and adjust the plan as you age and evolve in your health journey.

Vitality Is Not an Accident

The clients we work with at Vital Life are not broken. They're thriving. But they're also proactive and invest in the most important asset that they have: their life.

They are the ones who ask:

  • "How do I keep this energy for another 20 years?"

  • "How do I play hard and recover fast?"

  • "How do I stay sharp, mobile, strong and avoid disease or chronic conditions when everyone else around me is slowing down?"

If that's you, now is the time to act.

Because once the decline becomes visible, you are already years behind.
